MyMicroGallery is pleased to announce “Uncertain Places”, a personal exhibition by the artist Grazia Gabbini. The exhibition itinerary unfolds between sculptures and installations. It features works made of paper, glue and iron wires, many of them created specifically for the exhibition .
The exhibition revolves around the metaphors of the “refuge”: nests, hives, cavities of various shapes. Nests and containers that allude to the flight, protected dreams, poetic stories but also empty cavities and disenchantments. And what are the emotional and mental places, but also real places that we believe to be our refuge? There are infinite places, the places we love, those that we would never change … then there are the “possible places”, small things that become great, rituals that we do not know and do not want to give up, shelters that give us security. But the shelter, the womb, the protective place can be transformed into their opposite, in uncertain, provisional places, where there is a strange familiarity and in these ravines of the soul everything can happen: the disorientation, even the temporal abandonment the find.
The artist moves her research drawing inspiration from nature, in the awareness that everything is ephemeral and transitory, giving shape to even ambivalent emotions, but which then find a synthesis in the poetic communication of doing. The strength of Gabbini’s works lies precisely in their apparent fragility, in the ability to connect the sensorial to the immaterial side, a process with which the artist expresses all the contradictions and fragmentariness of reality.Grazia Gabbini was born in Milan where she lives and works. She graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. In view of a greater artistic depth, after the academic experience, he enrolled at the School of Visual Arts of Pavia, where he followed the courses of the artist Mario Raciti. In this context he attends his studies and lives the intellectual climate of artists who believe in the “making of painting”.
The need to explore other worlds leads her to collaborate with artists of different disciplines: actors, theater directors and poets with whom she studies and realizes performance / dialogue that embraces the languages of gestures, speech and environmental installation.
Grazia Gabbini exhibits since 1992 with continuity in solo and group exhibitions, in public and private venues, in Italy and abroad. In 2009 a sculpture of the Nido cycle was acquired by the International Museum of Thyssen in Alicante (Spain).
