Temel Nal: Pure Impression
May 7- May 27, 2019
MyMicroGallery is pleased to announce “Pure Impression” a solo exhibition of the german-born photographer Temel Nal, who is exhibiting in Milan for the first time. The exhibition is part of the Milano Photofestival 14th edition.
Temel Nal’s photography combines the abstract with the figurative, pairing apparently incompatible opposites. His mantra is “I feel the colour, I feel the light”. And it is according to this dictum that he creates living and vivid images, rich in movement and color. His subjects, which include oriental bazaars and skylines, natural landscapes and street photography, are transformed by his unique style, which uses the photographic medium not to halt the moment, but to lei it flow. Each work in the exhibition encourages the viewer to stop and contemplate. The intent of Temel Nal is to make visible those forces and those energies that are invisible. His shots invite us to go beyond the conventional view of things; the challenge is to perceive and restore the beauty of the moment that precedes the fixing of the image, always placing time at the center.
Photography approaches in the case of Temel to painting, shares its creative freedom and emotional aspects. Therefore it is no longer important to describe, the “moving effect” is its the visual alphabet. With the “moved” animates the immutable, sucks the real, condenses it, makes it explode. It is a whirlwind blurred, which allows us to imagine places, atmospheres, expanding our perception. The lack of details stimulates the imagination, allows us to re-create personal images, because the soul does not need sharpness, but beauty.
Temel Nal was born in Germany of Turkish origin. He has been exhibiting since 2010. He lives and works in Munich, Germany. Fundamental to all his works is the astounding fact that they are not computer-manipulated. Starting with an analogue camera in the early years, he changed to digital with the advent of that new technology. All of Nal’s images have been and are the result of the technique he uses whilst taking the photo. There is no post-production manipulation, only a minimal enhancement in the definition and colour intensity of the image. Not unlike film development in the analogue era. In a world where it is taken for granted that photographic images are incessantly enhanced, his direct-creation in situ is like a breath of fresh air. Janus-faced technology does not come into the equation. He calls this “Pure Photo Impression”.
